Answer: pneumobilia
- This right upper quadrant ultrasound demonstrates what appears to be fluid movement and occasional B-line artifacts in the hepato-biliary system. This is the typical appearance of pneumobilia.
- Given this patient’s severe lactic acidosis and pneumobilia on RUSH exam, a CT was performed that showed severe diffuse bowel inflammation and pneumatosis consistent with ischemic colitis.
